To kill a Kingdom had a nice mixture of the Young Adult and Fantasy genre, and as a Fantasy and YA book lover, it had the ability to amuse me, a lot.
The storyline of this book was exceptional and oh my goodness… the way all the characters spoke, discussed and argued were so hilarious and at times, badass. If you asked me to choose a favorite character, it’ll be hard for me to pick as all of them were equally as interesting and unique in their own way.
But, I don’t know if it was the right thing to read immediately after reading Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak. At the beginning of the book, the writing style felt very childish and plainly silly. But as I kept reading a few more chapters I slowly got back on track with the author’s writing style and with the characters and their personalities.
The hate to love relationship between the main characters, Elian and Lira, was among my most favorite part from this book!

This story is about a siren, a creature like the mermaids, but vicious. They steal the hearts of humans as trophies, and enjoy while doing it. And then there’s the prince who hunts them in his epic ship with his loyal crew.
Lira, the princess of the Sirens gets punished for disobeying her mother (The Sea Queen) and gets turned into a human. Once the prince and the princess’s life collide, that’s when the story starts.
